Japanese tourists visit namesake train stations in Taiwan
Promote a unique kind of travel

A group of 32 Japanese nationals began a four-day tour of 32 railway stations in Taiwan that bear their names. The activity is one of a series of joint programs between Taiwan and Japan to promote tourism in both countries.

The Chinese characters used in the names of the 32 stations are identical to the characters used in the surnames of the Japanese visitors. They also match names of stations in Japan's railway network. Taiwan’s transportation ministry said Taiwan and Japan having 32 stations with identical names is the first in the world.

Stations covered by the tour include Songshan in Taipei City, Banqiao in New Taipei City, and Qingshui in Taichung City.
