Legislature President Su Jia-chyuan is visiting Taiwan’s Pacific ally Kiribati, representing President Tsai Ing-wen at the country’s 40th Independence Day celebrations.

In a Facebook post Friday, Su shared pictures taken of him and the head of Kiribati’s legislature planting two coconut tree saplings together. Su explained the great importance of coconuts in the Pacific island nation and said that the two trees will continue to grow like the friendship between Taiwan and Kiribati.
