Members of the Taiwan Confederation of Trade Unions have held a press conference calling on the government to raise minimum wage.

The press conference was held outside the labor ministry on Wednesday, while ministry officials and workers’ representatives met to discuss the minimum wage.

The confederation is calling for a raise in the minimum wage because Taiwan’s economy has seen growth, and the US-China trade war has caused Taiwan to win more contracts. However, Labor Minister Hsu Ming-chun responded by saying that the ministry expects to keep the minimum wage unchanged in the coming year.
