The head of the National Security Bureau, Chiu Kuo-cheng, says that his organization is making all necessary preparations for the upcoming presidential election. Chiu was speaking during a report to the Legislature on Monday morning.
Chiu says that his bureau has a handle on all external forces that could interfere with the election. He also says he will start working with all political parties to ensure their candidates’ safety once all candidates have finalized their registrations.
Of primary concern right now is the question of coordination between the National Security Bureau and KMT candidate Han Kuo-yu’s existing private security detail. Chiu said he would not accept any integration of Han’s private guards into his bureau’s units.
