The Central Epidemic Command Center has overturned a measure that would allow Chinese spouses and children of Taiwanese citizens enter Taiwan. The measure had been proposed by the Mainland Affairs Council the previous day.

The epidemic center explained that the measure would have put a considerable strain on Taiwan’s health workers.

The ruling Democratic Progressive Party says that Taiwan still considers the protection of its nationals to be its chief priority. Health minister Chen Shih-chung says while all people residing in Taiwan enjoys access to Taiwan’s healthcare system, coverage must stop at the border.
