The Philippine government on Friday decided to lift its travel ban against Taiwan following a heated internal debate. That was the word from Philippine officials who declined to be named.

The officials said their labor ministry asked their government to lift the ban so that the jobs of 150,000 of their overseas workers in Taiwan would not be affected.

The Philippines had included Taiwan in its ban on travel to and from China in light of the COVID-19 outbreak.
