The Central Election Commission says it has set up a system that will allow backers of referendums and recall campaigns to gather the signatures they need online. That was the word from the commission’s chairperson, Lee Chin-yung, on Thursday.
Lee told lawmakers that the online system, completed in 2018, has passed cybersecurity tests. Lee promised to upgrade and strengthen the system to meet the strict standards of the Cabinet’s Department of Cybersecurity. Lee said that once this is done, the system will be ready to go online at any time.
