Taiwan’s major venues are still open but there are restrictions to ensure social distancing. The Taipei Zoo on Tuesday began a real-name registration system to monitor those who enter the zoo.
That’s a meerkat. It’s not a scene from the Lion King. It’s the Taipei Zoo. Starting Tuesday, if you want to visit them or the other animals, you need to register your real name . You can use a QR code or write your contact information down. This visitor said all you have to do is give your name, phone number and the names of those in your group. It was quick and easy.
The animals can get as close as they want to each other, but for the humans, there are stickers on the floor to show you how to keep a safe 1.5 meter distance. There's also crowd control. The popular penguin and panda pavilions allow 100 visitors every 20 minutes. The Pangolin Dome and Reptile House allows 100 visitors every 30 minutes.
Taipei Zoo Spokesman Eric Tsao says that the number of visitors dropped 70% in the beginning of the pandemic. Now it’s at half the usual number. He said people are very cautious when new things happen with the outbreak.
The Taipei Zoo is a great place to relax, enjoy the animals and some fresh air.
