Remember the Norwegian athlete who became a star in Taiwan after winning a triathlon while wearing a hat from a central Taiwan temple?
Well, he’s done it again. With his lucky cap on, he’s come in first in another triathlon, this time in Germany.
In 2019, Norwegian athlete Gustav Iden shot to fame in Taiwan, after he won a triathlon while wearing a cap bearing the name of a temple in Changhua County.
Last weekend, Iden won another triathlon in Ratingen, Germany, wearing the same lucky cap as he crossed the finish line.
The temple proudly shared the news of Iden’s victory on its Facebook page. The temple’s representative says it is thrilled with Iden’s new win.
Iden had vowed to come back to Taiwan to thank the temple if he won a gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics. Obviously, due to COVID-19, that won’t happen, at least not this year. But his latest win has convinced some in Taiwan that there might really be something special about this hat.
