President Tsai Ing-wen has issued a call for citizens to work together for the good of the nation. Tsai was speaking Friday during a visit to the Chih Fu Temple in Taipei.

Tsai said that last year was challenging, and yet Taiwan still managed to contain the COVID-19 pandemic. She said that Taiwan’s economy continued to flourish, not only leading the so-called four Asian tiger economies, but also leading in economic growth among developed countries.

Tsai also noted other recent achievements. Tsai said, “The international community is paying more and more attention to Taiwan, especially in the areas of industrial development and security. Other countries need Taiwan’s active participation, especially in the formation of a new generation supply chain, in which Taiwan must take a very important role.”

Tsai said that she prays for a better economy, for national defense and security, for containment of the pandemic, and for community care and public health.
