Taiwan to help Somaliland gov’t with its digitization efforts
Taiwan has had a representative office in the self-declared African nation of Somaliland since 2020.

Taiwan is set to help the government of Somaliland with its efforts to go digital. Taiwan’s representative office in Somaliland and Somaliland’s Ministry of Telecommunications and Technology signed an agreement on cooperation in the fields of information and communications technology on March 3.

Under the agreement, Taiwan’s representative office in Somaliland will dispatch an expert in these areas for a three-year project to develop local workers in these sectors, build an inter-ministerial information exchange platform, and strengthen the Somaliland government’s management of the internet.

Under the plan, Taiwan will train local people to develop, manage, and run specialized systems with the goals of optimizing the speed at which Somaliland’s government can share information and enhancing the government’s effectiveness.
