Foreign Minister Joseph Wu says that the Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF) helps promote a positive image of Taiwan in the international community. Wu was speaking Thursday at the Legislature.
The framework is jointly sponsored by Taiwan, the United States, and Japan, and serves as an exchange platform allowing Taiwan to share its expertise with other partners around the world.
Wu said the framework enables Taiwan to turn bilateral cooperation with the United States into multilateral participation. Wu said Taiwan’s expertise in areas such as public health and humanitarian assistance has promoted the nation’s image on the world stage.
Wu said that if more countries join the framework in the future, it will make Taiwan a focal point in discussing international issues.
Since it was founded about six years ago, GCTF has held 30 international forums, with 1,800 government officials and experts from 70 countries taking part.
