Taiwan reported 31,152 new local cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday.
The highest number of new local cases of COVID is from New Taipei, with 4,823 people there testing positive. Another 4,030 have the disease in Taichung, along with 3,555 in Kaohsiung.
Another 60 people have died from COVID-19. Their ages ranged from over 30 to over 90. Fifty-seven of those who died had chronic diseases. Over half were unvaccinated.
Authorities say another 92 people are suffering from moderate or severe symptoms of the disease.
Taiwan also recorded 145 imported cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday.
