COVID-19 (07/21): Taiwan reports 24,907 local cases, 74 deaths

Taiwan reported 24,907 new local cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.

If you take into account the population of each area of Taiwan, Lienchiang County is a hotspot for the virus. Twenty-one people have new cases of COVID there, out of a population of just under 13,000. Penghu County is also dealing with a high number of infections, as is Taitung County.

Another 74 people have died from COVID-19. Most were over the age of 70, and just over a third had taken three doses of a COVID vaccine.

Authorities say another 231 people are suffering from moderate or severe symptoms of the disease.

Taiwan also recorded 264 imported cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.
