Taiwan donated wheelchairs and assistive devices to Guatemala's underprivileged communities. The donation was made on Tuesday and includes 120 wheelchairs, 25 pediatric wheelchairs, and 320 assistive devices.
Sara Lopez, who is the social work secretary to Guatemala's First Lady, overlooked the donation ceremony. Lopez says Taiwan's donation is very valuable to under-resourced communities in Guatemala. She adds the wheelchairs and assistive devices will improve the quality of life for those who need it.
Taiwan's representative to Guatemala Miguel Tsao (曹立傑) says Taiwan values its official diplomatic relations with the country. Tsao says the donation shows how much Taiwan's non-profit organizations care for Guatemalans.
Tsao says Guatemala's government keeps a detailed record of its collaboration with Taiwan on social welfare, education, public health, women's rights and more. He says Taiwan's latest donation will be cherished and used effectively.
