Taiwanese tennis player Hsieh Su-wei (謝淑薇) and Barbora Strycova of the Czech Republic defeated Belgian player Elise Mertens and Storm Hunter of Australia on Sunday, winning their second Wimbledon doubles title.
After 1 hour and 51 minutes’ face-off, Hsieh and Strycova secured their Ladies’ Doubles champions with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Mertens and Hunter.
Hsieh and Strycova made a strong comeback after leaving tennis for two years. Strycova left tennis in 2021 to give birth to her son and Hsieh also took an extended hiatus in the same year. The pair’s return to the Center Court rewrites tennis history, making them the oldest women's doubles pair by combined age to reach a Grand Slam final.
