The United States, Japan, and the Philippines held a trilateral summit in Washington on Thursday local time, issuing a joint statement after the meeting to reaffirm the importance of peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. On Wednesday, the Foreign Ministry welcomed the three countries’ firm stance and reiterated that this issue has reached a high degree of international consensus.

The joint statement of the tripartite summit between U.S. President Biden, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. emphasized that peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait are vital and indispensable to global security and prosperity.

The Foreign Ministry stated that China's military intimidation and gray zone coercion in the region have posed severe challenges to the rules-based international order and have aroused great concern from the international community. It said that Taiwan will continue working with the United States, Japan, the Philippines, and other like-minded countries to promote regional stability and prosperity.
