Europe’s first-ever Taiwan tourism information center was unveiled in Paris this Tuesday. The Tourism Administration established this center to not only strengthen Taiwan’s presence in Europe but also promote exchanges between key tourism industry players in both Taiwan and France.

France is Taiwan’s third-largest source of tourism in Europe, and with increasing inquiries about travel to Taiwan, the center will also provide customers with travel itinerary and consulting services.

At the unveiling ceremony, head of Taiwan’s Tourism Administration planning division Wu Chieh-ping (吳潔萍) emphasized in his speech that the damage following Hualien’s recent earthquake has largely been repaired. He welcomed tourists from around the world to continue visiting Taiwan as Taiwan’s overall tourism resources and facilities have not been affected.

Following the ceremony, the Tourism Administration invited over 60 local travel agency representatives to attend a Taiwan tourism briefing. Apart from introducing the services offered at the center, the event aimed to seek cooperation opportunities to further develop tourism business prospects.

In attendance was product manager Marie Fejoz of Les Maisons du Voyage, which is a travel agency that started running tours in Taiwan several years ago. Fejoz shared that inquiries of travel to Taiwan have surged since the COVID-19 pandemic. Finding enough tour guides with ample knowledge of both Taiwan and France as well as a proficiency in both languages to meet demands has been a challenge. Fejoz told CNA that Taiwan has great potential given its rich history and culture. She stated that feedback from customers has been overwhelmingly positive and that everyone is fascinated by Taiwan.
