To boost the competitiveness of allied nations, Taiwan has hosted a special training program aimed at enhancing the logistics and practical skills of 21 trainees from nine countries.

The warehousing and logistics course was jointly organized by a branch of the Labor Ministry’s Workforce Development Agency (WDA) and the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF).

According to a WDA press release on Wednesday, the course was developed in line with foreign policy and aimed to assist friendly countries in the Pacific, Latin America, and the Carribean in enhancing industrial competitiveness, while also promoting national diplomacy. A total of 21 trainees from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Mexico, Tuvalu, Palau, and St. Lucia participated in the five-week course.

The WDA’s Lai Chia-jen (賴家仁) says that seven industry lecturers were invited to teach sessions on topics such as international trade, smart logistics, and forklift operation applications. Lai adds that the trainees also visited Evergreen Marine Corporation, Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation, and other enterprises in order to better understand Taiwan’s logistics operations and transportation and distribution practices.
