An official says the Taoyuan Aerotropolis project in northern Taiwan will help upgrade Taiwan’s economy.
The official is head of the Civil Aeronautics Administration, Jean Shen. She was speaking on Wednesday in an international forum on Taiwan’s main international gateway in Taoyuan.
In an opening address, Shen said the project will integrate Taiwan’s strengths, including its manufacturing prowess, technological know-how, and location at the center of the Asia-Pacific region. She also said the success of the project will determine Taiwan’s future competitiveness.
The Taoyuan Aerotropolis project is expected to start in 2016. The large urban planning development project is located at the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, the country's main international gateway. The aim is to build Taiwan into an air transport hub in Asia.
