President will not attend inaugurations in El Salvador, Panama
Foreign minister Lin

President Ma Ying-jeou will not attend the coming presidential inauguration in Panama and El Salvador in June and July. That’s the word from Foreign Minister David Lin on Friday.

“We will definitely send a delegation, said Lin. "We are planning to send a special envoy to El Salvador. But things are still in the planning stage. We are not sure what to do about Panama yet.”

Lin said that the newly elected presidents both have special relations with Taiwan and bilateral ties with these two countries are very stable.

Panama and El Salvador are two of Taiwan’s 23 diplomatic allies. The inauguration ceremonies will be held on June 1 and July 1.
