Health Minister Chiu Wen-ta has left for Geneva to attend this year’s World Health Assembly (WHA). The WHA is the decision-making body of the World Health Organization.
The theme of this year’s assembly is “The link between climate and health”. The health minister will share Taiwan’s experience in controlling contagious diseases and providing medical care in the wake of natural disasters.
The Taiwanese delegation held bilateral talks with representatives from 22 countries on the sidelines of the WHA last year. This year, it is expected to meet with delegations from 40 to 50 countries, particularly European and Middle Eastern countries.
Health Minister Chiu Wen-ta said the Taiwanese delegation met with its Chinese counterpart for the first time last year. He also said the delegation will do the same this year.
This year’s World Health Assembly will open on Monday.
