The tourism bureau is promoting Taiwan by providing free instant messaging graphics of Taiwan for Japanese smartphone users. The free instant messaging app is the South Korean-Japanese application LINE.

Since the launch of the new graphics in Japan in April, over 150,000 people have subscribed to the bureau’s account.

The bureau asked Japan’s artist Tamura Atsushi to design 12 graphics in Japanese with common instant messaging expressions such as “got it” and “thank you”. The bureau also designed four new graphics such as Taiwan’s night markets and Techno Prince that depicts Taiwan’s folk art with modern pop music. The tourism bureau hopes that Japan will come to know Taiwan better through the new graphics.
