Premier Jiang Yi-hua has called on the transportation minister to give a report on the massive train delays that took place on Friday – the first day of a three-day holiday.
Initial reports say that a fast-moving train pulled down an overhead electrical cable, affecting the travel plans of more than 60,000 rail passengers. At least 49 trains were affected by the delays before the problem was fixed at 8am on Saturday morning. More than 10,000 passengers meet the requirements that would allow them to receive a refund.
Cabinet spokesman Sun Lih-chyun said that Premier Jiang Yi-huah contacted Transportation Minister Yeh Kuang-shih, requesting a speedy report on the cause of Friday’s incident.
