Mr.Rolf Frei, the Director of Trade Office of Swiss Industries said Switzerland invests more than 3% of its GDP in research and development. Strong cooperation with universities, the presence of multinational companies, good financial system and strong IP protection are some factors that contribute to the success of biotechnology in Switzerland. Innovation, Mr.Rolf Frei, said is the driving force behind competitiveness adding that the Swiss government grants funds for special projects submitted by universities and private companies.
According to an index by the World Intellectual Property Organization, Switzerland is top in the world when it comes to innovation. The Swiss Innovation Forum in Taipei was held in November last year with the purpose to attract cooperation between industries and how innovation can find its way into the market.
