Lim Kek-tjiang was born in Indonesia in 1928 and passed away in Australia in 2017. Lim graduated from the Amsterdam Conservatory with distinction. Lim was conductor of the Jakarta Radio Orchestra, music director and principal conductor of the Peking Central Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Hong Kong Philharmonic . He played a key role in establishing the Hong Kong Philharmonic as a professional orchestra in 1974 and in 2002, he also founded the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra (ESO) in Taiwan.
