Taiwan and Saint Kitts and Nevis have forged diplomatic ties since 1983, not long after Saint Kitts and Nevis became independent. The relations were further enhanced with the opening of the Embassy of Saint Kitts and Nevis in Taiwan in January of 2008. Saint Kitts and Nevis, also known as the Federation of Saint Christopher and Nevis, is a two-island country in the eastern Caribbean Sea. The ambassador of Saint Kitts and Nevis to ROC Taiwan Amb.Jasmine Huggins said both Taiwan and St. Kitts and Nevis have worked in various areas of cooperation, citing the example of the area of education, she said there were only ten students from Saint Kitts and Nevis studying in Taiwan ten years ago, but today the number has increased to slightly more than 50.
