Amb.Jasmine Huggins from Saint Kitts and Nevis has been actively engaged in people to people contact in Taiwan. She has participated not only in government activities but also in many events organized by the private sector in Taiwan. In 2018, Saint Kitts and Nevis took part in the Taipei Lantern Festival and more than 300 thousand people were able to see Brimstone Hill Fortress (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) in the shape of a lantern. The Lantern Festival is a local festival with over a thousand years of tradition and the Taipei Lantern Festival was launched in 1997 and it attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. Amb.Jasmine Huggins said her Embassy has taken part in the festival every year ever since 2018 adding that to increase the exposure, her country will take part in the Taiwan Lantern Festival, a national festival attracting more than 10 million people to visit every year.  The Discovery Channel's program "Fantastic Festivals of the World" has highlighted the Taiwan Lantern Festival as one of the best festivals in the world.
