Taiwanese businessman Tsai Eng-meng and his CTi News have been in the news recently. On Wednesday, the National Communications Commission decided not to renew the TV station’s license, in line with Article 19 of the Satellite Broadcasting Act.

The commission said that CTi News has seriously violated rules several times and that its “internal review system and self-disciplinary mechanism are out of order.” The commission also said CTi’s biggest shareholder, Tsai Eng-meng, has been “involved in Cti’s news production directly and indirectly.” As a result, the commission said the TV station will have trouble implementing its future operating plans.
