Japanese newspaper Yukan Fuji reported on Tuesday that US President Donald Trump is planning to visit Taiwan and recognize Taiwan diplomatically.
When asked about this possibility, Taiwan’s representative to the US Hsiao Bi-khim said she has not heard reports of this in her interaction with US officials and is unable to comment on the newspaper’s story.
The Japanese report also said that China would attack Taiwan within a month after the chaotic US elections. The report says China has dubbed the day of attack “X-Day”.
Regarding this report, national security officials said that the Yukan Fuji is known for sensationalism. Officials also say that with the US election less than a month away, both candidates are busy campaigning and would not have time to visit Taiwan.
