The sudden death of 13 senior citizens after receiving vaccines against COVID-19 has worried older people in Taiwan.
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, one 89-year-old woman doesn’t want to get vaccinated. Why? The recent sudden deaths of some fellow senior citizens who had just gotten the shot! She says she fears getting vaccinated could cause a fever, lower back pain, and “itchy feet” as well.
The woman living in Kaohsiung is pretty active, and has no chronic health problems. She even helps her son sort out paperwork every day.
The woman’s son says that he had wanted her to get vaccinated, but is too worried that something could go wrong. Given that two died yesterday and eleven died today, the man said he can’t go ahead with having his mother vaccinated .
This case of vaccine hesitancy isn’t an isolated one. One 80-year-old woman said the news about the sudden deaths is scary and wonders who will dare to get vaccinated now?
Another woman also said the situation is really scary, as over ten have died already.
The government has its work cut out for it when it comes to allaying senior citizens’ fears.
