The National Fire Agency has plans to strengthen its drone operation training in the wake of the Russia-Ukraine war. On Friday, the agency held an exhibition of disaster prevention and relief operations which include a special search 5G project and volunteer disaster relief mechanism.

Agency chief Hsiao Huan-chang (蕭煥章) pointed out that President Tsai Ing-wen had mentioned the importance of a research center so that the development of disaster prevention can exist in Taiwan's firefighting system.  As of Friday, such a center was officially set up at the training site in Nantou, central Taiwan.

The agency also has plans to build a 5G firefighting project to establish contact with front-line rescue teams to send back real-time images, as well as drones as signal relay stations.

Hsiao thanked the chairperson of Rti, Cheryl Lai (賴秀如)who was present at the launch ceremony of the 5G project. He said he looks forward to the opportunity to connect Taiwan's disaster prevention and relief information to the world through Rti’s multilingual platform in the future.
