Taiwan’s Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) says that the amount of green procurement nationwide for 2021 increased by 4% from the year before. EPA made the announcement on Monday while giving recognition to 36 government agencies and 213 enterprises for their green efforts.

According to the EPA, the increase in green procurement reduced electricity use by 200 million kilowatt hours. This is equivalent to the average monthly electricity consumption of 500,000 users. Furthermore, it also reduced carbon consumption by 100,000 metric tons. This is 282 times greater than the amount of carbon absorbed by Daan Forest Park, one of the largest public parks in Taipei City.

The EPA also called for the government and the private sector to continue to work together to reach the government's goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
