A group of diplomatic allies’ representatives to the United Nations (U.N.) arrived in Taiwan on Monday for a six-day visit. The representatives from Eswatini, the Marshall Islands, Guatemala, and Nauru will meet with President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) and other senior officials, the foreign ministry said in a press release.

The ministry says the visiting delegation has rich experience and is familiar with U.N. affairs. It says this trip will provide the group with an opportunity to learn more about Taiwan while helping relevant ministries and agencies to understand the operations of the U.N. system and its handling of Taiwan.

Members of the delegation include Vuyile Dumisani Dlamini, the permanent representative of Eswatini to the U.N. Office in Geneva, and Doreen deBrum, permanent representative of the Republic of the Marshall Islands to the U.N. office and other international organizations in Geneva. Joining them are U.N. permanent representatives Angela Maria Chavez Bietti of Guatemala and Chitra Talatoka Jeremiah of Nauru.

The group will meet with foreign minister Joseph Wu (吳釗燮), Control Yuan President and National Human Rights Commission Chairperson Chen Chu (陳菊), health minister Hsueh Jui-yuan (薛瑞元), and digital affairs minister Audrey Tang (唐鳳). They will exchange views on issues including human rights, medical and health cooperation, scientific and technological research and development, disaster prevention, sustainable development, and Taiwan's participation in the U.N. system.
