The Taiwanese curator, Fengyi Chu (朱峯誼) and artist, I-hsiang Huang (黃奕翔), are in New York for six-month residencies at the International Studio and Curatorial Program (ISCP). The artist-curators joined the program on March 1 and are supported by Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture.

Chu’s work explores the integration of mysticism in art across cultures and eras through curatorial practices, including exhibitions, research, and podcasts. Drawing on his academic background in sociology and his PhD on national identity, social discourse, and political ideology, he connects historical experiences with current issues and realities in Taiwan.

Huang produces video, documentary and spatial installations, and his work is strongly rooted in site specific practice. In New York, in particular, he is engaging with communities of sex workers as well as art history in relation to sex workers.

A third artist, Chang Wen-woan (張文菀) is at the Triangle Arts Association. As a thoughtful observer of life, Chang is committed to documenting and reflecting on her own feelings and experiences of the everyday in New York through sculpture.

ISCP supports the development of artists and curators from around the world, and brings them together in New York to exchange experiences and build creativity. Founded in 1994, the program has hosted 70 artists and curators from Taiwan with funding from Taiwan's Ministry of Culture. The current residency program will run until July 31, 2024.
