In an exclusive interview with Rti, International Centre for Ukrainian Victory (ICUV) Co-founder and National Interests Advocacy Network (ANTS) Chairwoman Hanna Hopko spoke on Ukraine’s current challenges. Hopko has led a delegation to Taiwan seeking to raise awareness of the continuing war in Ukraine.

Rti Chairperson Cheryl Lai (賴秀如) along with Vice President Isis Lee (李明俐) and International Language Division Manager Carlson Huang (黃佳山) met the delegation and asked how Taiwan can help to end the war. Charitable Organization Heart in Action Co-Founder and CEO Kateryna Muzlova expressed her certainty that, without strong support from like-minded countries, the Russo-Ukraine conflict will not end this year. She said battle tactics have shifted toward electronic warfare and now employs drone models that can be built by civilians. Muzlova explained that Ukrainian drone components and signal jammers capable of disabling Russian drones are running low, and Taiwan can assist with resupply.

Hopko, who has visited twice, shared how impressed she is with Taiwan’s enthusiastic political support, emphasizing that if Taiwan and Ukraine can strengthen ties and raise awareness of the two countries’ similarities, the democratic world will pay more attention. She pointed out that Taiwanese people, who also live under the looming threat of a much larger and more powerful neighbor, are particularly well-positioned to understand the plight of the Ukrainian people.

Lai said that Rti will be sending reporters to Ukraine to capture the fighting spirit of the Ukrainian people, which Hopko stressed is passionate and intense because the public so deeply understands what is at stake. Hopko explained that Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, and other countries have formed a “new empire of dictatorship” that is destabilizing the world. She said authoritarian governments must be held accountable for their actions, and that Ukraine and like-minded countries must show them that democracy is not so fragile.
