“A Journey to Taiwan” wins award at New York festival

Taiwan-born fashion designer, Malan Breton, won the Best Short Documentary award at the New York City International Film Festival for his film “A Journey to Taiwan”.

Breton traveled to Taiwan at the beginning of the year during the Lantern Festival to shoot his documentary with the cooperation of Taiwan’s tourism bureau. He introduces Taiwan through music and photo shots of different places on the island. The film premiered at the opening of the New York Film Festival in the short documentary category.

In September 2014, Breton held a fashion show at New York’s Lincoln Center entitled “A Journey to Taiwan”. He featured creations using Taiwan’s traditional Hakka fabric and colors.

Breton was born in Tienmu in Taipei and graduated from the Juilliard School. He created the brand Malan Breton in 2005 and is ranked in the top 20 fashion designers in the world by social media groups. Breton currently resides in New York City.
