Taiwan plans to set up 15 new missile bases across the country, increasing defense capabilities.

A video recently released by China’s People's Liberation Army (PLA) with the theme ‘sharpening the blade’ aims to show off the style and capabilities of air force officers and soldiers in the PLA Eastern Theater Command.

As cross-strait tensions remain high, Taiwan’s military continues to simulate and respond to potential invasion scenarios against the country and bolster defense capabilities. Su Tzu-yun (蘇紫雲), from the Institute for National Defense and Security Research, says that the military is well-prepared to handle various scenarios, employing electronic intelligence, satellites, and human intelligence to gather information on the Chinese military's movements.

Taiwan is also set to establish 15 missile bases, including plans for six coastal Harpoon missile bases with locations including Yunlin, Tainan, and Kaohsiung’s Zuoying, two in Pingtung, and another in Taitung.

Some residents who live near the proposed missile base in Yunlin expressed their support for the plans, saying that it is to protect the people of Taiwan, so they agree with it. However, there are mixed opinions on the matter among the public.
