Nearly 110,000 donations totaling more than NT$320 million (more than US$9.9 million) have been raised within six days following the Hualien earthquake last week, according to the Taiwan Foundation for Disaster Relief on Tuesday.
The Taiwan Foundation for Disaster Relief is accepting donations for earthquake relief for one month spanning April 4 to May 3. The Health and Welfare Ministry stated on Tuesday that all online donation platforms are waiving transaction fees, and four major convenience store chains have introduced new donation channels.
The foundation stated that it has been entrusted by the Cabinet to handle the fundraising project and will prioritize meeting the needs of disaster victims. The Cabinet and Hualien County Government are actively mobilizing resources for disaster relief efforts, focusing on emergency rescue, medical care, and shelter. In addition to supporting frontline relief personnel, the foundation will adhere to fundraising regulations to allocate funds for disaster assistance, emergency medical care, sheltering, and reconstruction.
According to the Health and Welfare Ministry, donations can be made by direct bank transfers using the Land Bank of Taiwan, online via credit card at https://backme.tw/ref/0403twhl/, or via Line Pay. Individuals can also donate using ibon at 7-ELEVEN, FamiPort at FamilyMart, Life-ET at Hi-Life, and OK‧go at OKmart.
