The South Korean government announced on Thursday that it will donate US$500,000 (around NT$16 million) to support reconstruction work in Hualien after the earthquake.
This isn’t the first time South Korea helped out Taiwan in light of natural disasters. South Korea donated US$100,000 after Southern Taiwan experienced a magnitude 6.2 earthquake in 2016.
Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry expressed sincere gratitude to the government of South Korea, and its representative to Taiwan Lee Eun-Ho (李殷鎬), for their generous donation. The ministry hopes that the goodwill between the two countries continues and lays the groundwork for future international collaboration during times of need.
