A Taiwanese fishing vessel that left Kaohsiung in mid-January this year is still reported missing.

The last contact with the boat, the Hsiang Fu Chun, was on February 26, when the captain called the owner to report a leak on deck. At the time, the ship was located off the southeast coast of Argentina.

The boat was carrying a crew of 49, including 21 from Indonesia, 13 from the Philippines, 11 from China, two from Vietnam, and two including the captain from Taiwan.

Vice President of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla, on Monday asked the Indonesian Economic and Trade Office to Taipei to help in the search for the missing Indonesian fishermen.

Meanwhile, Vietnam’s foreign ministry said on Monday it is seeking help from their representative office in Taipei and their embassy in Argentina to find the missing vessel.
